Reform UK marked the Local Elections on 1st May 2025 with striking electoral gains, moving from relative obscurity in local office to seizing control of 10 out of 23 contested councils and securing 677 new seats nationwide. The results represented a dramatic shift in the local political landscape, with Reform now in a position to directly shape planning priorities, council budgets, and local climate strategies.
But 100 days on, what does this political breakthrough mean for renewable energy projects, investment in green infrastructure, and the delivery of net zero commitments at a local level?
