Delivering onshore wind projects across the UK.

We bring extensive experience advising on UK onshore wind applications, having successfully supported over 10 projects spanning a variety of geographies and scales. Currently, we are actively advising on a number of schemes in both England and Scotland—covering decisions from appeals to delegated approvals, planning committees, and Secretary of State sign‑offs.

Recent government policy signals major changes for onshore wind:

  • The Infrastructure Planning (Onshore Wind and Solar Generation) Order 2025 reintroduces onshore wind into the NSIP framework, streamlining the consent pathway for large-scale projects.

  • The revised National Policy Statements for energy, published in draft in May 2025, strengthen the policy support for clean energy infrastructure, including onshore wind, in line with the UK's ambition to reach 95% clean power by 2030.

  • From Spring 2025, projects over 100 MW in England will qualify for the Development Consent Order (DCO) regime, providing greater clarity and consistency for developers.

  • The Government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan outlines a more supportive policy environment for clean energy delivery, with potential changes to legal challenge thresholds and greater emphasis on community benefit mechanisms, such as energy bill discounts.

These shifts mark a renewed political and regulatory commitment to onshore wind, but also demand sophisticated engagement with stakeholders, evolving legal frameworks, and shifting public expectations.
